Default 4L80E in LT1 TA

I have a 96 TA that I want to put a 4L80E in. My question is what all is involved in doing this (as far as stand alone ecu, possible trans mount change, drive shaft length, torque converter change). Has anyone every done it with an LT1 car? Any information would be helpful.

I did it about 2 years ago.

4L80e
Transgo Stage 3 Full Manual Valve Body [No need for pricey electronics]
Home Made transmission crossmember, later upgraded to a BMR one
Chasis mount TQ Arm [BMR Track Pack, w/Subframes]
Shortened Stock Driveshaft [4L80e yoke came with trans]
Vigilante 4L80e Converter setup to work with the LT1 flexplate [Bolted right up and sized perfectly, matter of fact I just had it restalled last week]
B&M Mega Shifter [Probably could have used stocker, but I got this on a trade]
Ran NAPA transline hoses to transmission cooler.

Thats pretty much all you need.

I believe with the LT1 Car you will need some kind of Stand-Alone System like mentioned.

The LS1 PCM can be tuned to run a 4L80E.

Depends on how you do it. I did mine for cheap, but most will spend 2-4k.

If your stock PCM is setup for a 4L60E, and you have tuning software, no aftermarket controller is required. PM me.

I'm going with a Jakes Stage II and was just posing a question about LT1/4L80E. I am getting Jakes transbrake too. I sent an email asking this but it was late, when you have a transbrake, then it's all manual articulation of the gears, no? I won't need the PCM interation with a manual/transbrake valve body, will I?

No, with Jake's transbrake the tune should be unaffected.

I have done it both ways, segment swap and repin

or using a relay to invert the 2-3 sense wire....its worth the effort to get an 80e segment in your controller

here's a link to the thread i have saved from when I tried it
