LQ4 vs. Fbody Pullout LS1
I am wondering the advantages disadvantages with going with the truck motor, the 6.0 or just a regualr F-body pullout 5.7... I know that I will be running a T56 with either so that isnt the question, and it will be going in my 91 Z28.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

Yeah thats why I started looking at them.. I just want to see why they are so cheap now... bad engine? Way harder to install? The weight will still be less than it was, and I am not looking for an all out drag car so the iron block will be fine..

its not junk by any means, people take out there ls1's and build lq4's its just if you dont mind the extra weight... stock for stock im not sure if their the same horse power im sure some one else can answer that for you though.

I will be doing a complete rebuild of either engine, but it looks like the LQ4 or LQ9 will be my better option because of the far cheaper price! You guys respond really fast haha that's awesome!

if given the choice I'd go with the 6.0 lq4/9 any modding you do the 6.0 will have better gains. with full bolt ons and a cam you are easily in the low/mid 400's (to the wheels) with the truck motors. While this is also true for the ls1's, for the price difference i'd stick with the iron block, plus with the extra CI it'll have the potential for more.

And the LQ-motors do have more torque.

i just sold the lq4 i puschased for my swap and made a hundred bucks off of it and i am just going with the ls1 as by the time u by the fbody oilpan etc... your about the same price as just buying a ls1 or a ls2 . look into all your options before you purchase anything and the bore for the lq4 being 4 inches helps with what heads you can use as mentioned
i just thought the weight and the savings on the oil pan was worth it to me
