Default Intake Manifold Questions

Im putting an LQ9 into my 240sx... Im changing the intake over the the car style. My question is I found an LS2 intake manifold for cheap. Whats the major difference between the LS2 and LS6 manifold? I know people with LS1's stick with the LS6 but the LQ9 being a 4.0 bore like the LS2 is it just as good?

LS2 is fine, just has a 90mm opening,

I'm also going to be doing a 240 swap soon hopefully as I'm going to look at a 240 tomorrow.

Do you have pix of your swap or a thread you started? I have a friend who wants to do the same swap.
I'm might even do it as the 240 is light and looks good with nice wheels and low stance.

You'll need the 4 bolt TB with the LS2 manifold.
Sorry, cant help on what's involved on switching the DBW TBs.

Not sure about the LS2s but when I was looking for my LQ9, all I found were DBW. I guess you could adapt to DBC. But the LQ9 runs the LS1 cam. Even if you swap out an LS6 or LS2 intake, I suspect the cam would be a greater restriction than either of these intakes over an LS1 intake.
So I guess my point is, just use the LS1 intake unless you're going to do a build for more high rpm HP. It would just add complexity and cost for very little return.

It's not hard to change a Cam..

And the TB I was referring to was my 90mm Holley..I haven't seen a stock GM Cable 90mm TB.

Or L92 heads, L76 intake...yeah, I've looked at you build and I'm jealous...
I'm running an LQ9/LS1 intake, headers, and a mild tune in my 68 vette. I went with the 6.0 because it could be upgraded. Problem is it's already overpowering the rear tires, so it looks like suspension mods/offset trailing arms/bigger wheels and tires before I do anything to the engine.

From what I'm gathering, the LS2 intake does not flow as well as the LS1 intake. That's most likely why a cheap price, not the best. LS6 mani FTW.

A LS6 will out-perform a LS2..without a doubt. If I had Cathedral Heads that would be my choice Intake.

There is a place that is converting the LS6's into a 4-bolt to accept a 90mm TB..those are supposed to be pretty good too.

Thanks..mine's doin alrite.

Man I would look into a LS6 Intake for yours if you plan on doing anything like a Cam..it would definately help.

Yeah, I figured now the intake and cam are restricting my hp over 5000rpm. I was initially planning on the LS6 intake, LS6 cam/valvesprings in my LQ9.
I wanted my 68 vette to look completely stock inside and out so I kept the original 7" wheels, not much tire for that engine/trans/rear combo. I'll need wider rally wheels/tires, offset trailing arms, and revised rear end geometry before I can take advantage of my current setup.

Default Intake and TB Test

A good source for a direct comparison between different manifolds and TB combinations can be found on the TPIS site at this URL:
http://www.tpis.com/index.php?module=2_17_06

I used it to put my combination together: LS1 block - standard bore, Stock Crank/Rods, Speedpro forged pistons, TPIS ZL15 cam/springs/titanium retainers, TPIs Push Rods, Jesel rockers, LS2/LS6 '243' Heads, LS2 Cam Gears and Chain, LS2 Intake Manifold, MSD LS2 Cast Throttle Body, Aeromotive LS2 Fuel Rails, LS2 34lb injectors. This is all going into a 96 240SX with a T56 transmission.
