Default Lets Talk Gauges

Sup guys I dont post here much but I do A LOT of lurking because there is a bunch of good information here. But I havent been so lucky as to find anything on gauges with a LSX swap. I am putting a TT 5.3 in my 89 Mustang LX...I know...I know...not very original...lol but it should make the Ford boys cry a little everytime they get beat. Now my question is what did everybody do about gauges? What speedometers did you go with? and how well does it work (how accurate?) , I think me and my buddy BadChad on here have figured out how to hook up the manual oil pressure and water temp...but I am just throwing this out in general..how did you make it happen?

Thanks

I used all autometer. Won't be able to use the $210 speedo with the new th400 tho :/ I figure I'll just keep my gps in the stang.. it shows speed pretty accurate. No fuel level gauge as of right now.

camminaro first of all sorry about you driving the ford,,lol now I used an electric auto meter gauge , and comes with a way to calibrate it on your own, so you wont have to re tune you pcm... it just hooks to the "high side" of the vss, hopes that helps

Just curious, will the auto meter speedo work fine if you plug the vss into the computer and take the signal from the computer?

My Autometer worked fine when it was connected to the output from the pcm.

LOL..well the Ford has been around the longest. Owned a couple of Camaro's over the years but they were just flings. However the 98 I owned opened my eyes to the power potiental of a LS1. I had a all forged SBF 347 in the stang last and it ran its *** off in a straight line but wasnt very family friendly as far as driving was concerned. But thanks for the info on the speedo. That was the only one I was really concerned about getting hooked up.

Why not? you can just put the reluctor wheel from a 4l80e on the output shaft and pop the vss out of the 80e in.
