Thoughts on exhaust setup...
Well I have two requirements.
1. It needs to be good for 600-700 HP (planning for way in the future)
2. It needs to have a cutout so I can make it quiet when needed but loud and open when racing
I'd like to keep it simple and cheap so I was thinking this:
Long tubes into Y-pipe which merges the two 3'' collectors into a 4'' pipe, 4'' electric cutout right off the y-pipe, and then as big of a muffler as I can fit right off of the cutout that just dumps down.
Would this work? Is there going to be enough room to fit an effective muffler in the proposed location? What kind of muffler would you suggest? Keep in mind the muffler will serve ONLY for quieting the exhaust, I will never ever race without the cutout open so the muffler can be as restrictive as it needs to be.

Yeah that probably works great, but dual-electric cutouts and a full catback exhaust isn't exactly cheap.
I'm proposing nothing but a big y-pipe, into a single electric cutout, into a muffler and nothing else. I don't want the exhaust to come out the back I want it all to just dump as soon as possible but with the ability to either be loud or quiet.

Finding a 4" muffler that actually quiets the car, will be rather large & not typically fit under the car, unless it is behind the fuel tank.
Much easier to fit two 3" mufflers with turndowns, or run a full length 4" setup. A good 4" system will not hurt power at all... no need for a cutout.

Alright, lets just throw the budget out the window.
I want to have the ability to be quiet enough to not wake up the neighbors when I come home early in the morning, but also have the ability to have a 100% restriction free exhaust that can support 600 HP. If I gotta do dual cutouts so be it, how you would set that up?

If so tHen you need a full exhaust. A dumped exhaus is goin to be loud and your neighbors will hate you trust me. Get a full exhaust and then get a cutout. A stainless manual QTP cutout is 50 bucks. You can get the electric switch later!

Dumped exhaust will always be loud. If I were you id think about putting manual cutouts behind the headers and running a simple 3" catback. A Magnaflow system wont rob much power and wont add much weight. Maybe you could even mount a couple bullet mufflers and run the pipes back and have them removable.
My plan for my racecar involves cutting the rear seat pans out. Im going to run 3" pipes off the headers into an X and mounting two full magnaflow mufflers under the rear seat pans and dump it after that. It will be able to be removed quickly and im going to have a couple bullets to mount directly on the headers to race with at tracks that require more than a header muffler.

My car already has MAC mid tube headers and a hooker catback with a cutout after the y-pipe. That's how I bought it.
Even though it has a cutout, I was under the impression that a 3'' outlet y-pipe will rob a bit of power once I reach my power goals.
Maybe I should just take the existing cutout and move it to one of the collectors before the y-pipe, add another cutout on the other side, put in some new pipe where the old cutout was and be done with it.
Then I'd basically have the exact same setup you described, open headers when open, or a quiet enough hooker catback when closed.

I'm just looking for the cheapest way to put together an exhaust that will support 600 HP with the cutout open, but be somewhat civilized (quiet) when closed, even if it kills a bit of power. I won't be racing with the cutout closed.
