Default Best heads for ASA cam?

A friend of mine is looking to put some new heads on his motor. Currently it is a stock LS1, 241 heads, LS6 intake, 1 7/8 Grots, 3" duals. He was told a long time ago to go with LS6 heads, but there are many other options now. The car did 389/370 as it sits with crap 91 octane. Anyone out there with this cam with different heads?

well that cam was made for 243 cast heads but i imagine that any set of aftermarket heads would do the trick. How much you willing to spend?

While he has the heads off switch to a non-road racing cam if he wants a set of heads anyway.

prc 5.3 with that little chamber and small runners, the port velocity will be riduclus. Had a buddy back in the day swap some 5.3 heads from patriot and gaind 50 hp and 70 tq avarage across the curve. I think total hp 421 through a stalled auto and 3,73

The cam was installed in 02. There were not too many cam choices back then. Not looking to change the cam out either. He is happy with the powerband and I will leave it at that.

He would prefer to keep it under $1500 for everything unless truly significant gains could be had with something else. An extra $1000 isn't worth 20hp. It is a daily driven car that hardly sees the track. All out numbers don't mean everything, just a better ***-dyno feel.
