Default Need advice on 4l60e rebuild

Ok, my 4l60e is slowly getting worse and starting to slip. I would like some advice on a couple of options. I am eventually going to put a 4000 yank in it also. So basically what could I do.

1. Buy all (bulletproof) parts and have tranny shop rebuild.
2. Order an aftermarket 4l60 from a vendor.

I found a local guy who specialized in 4l60s around the drag race guys. Saved some bucks over the internet prices I was seeing. Might not hurt you to ask around with the trans abusive crowd whose trans' are holding up.....All our trans vendors are top notch from what I can tell so you have a fall back plan.

What do you have done to this vehicle? This would help us recommend what trans or parts might be needed to accomplish your goals. Vince

I have done the following mods:
SLP Lid
P&P TB
Small street tune from buddy's lap top.
Line pressure is boosted for trans
Pacesetter LT w/ 3" Y-pipe (no muffler)
Stock internal motor w/ 853 heads 190K miles
Stock 10 bolt with 3.23 (going to 3.73)
98 Z28 weighs 3000lbs w/o me in it

Runs 12.56@111 bouncing off rev limiter going onto 3rd

Buy a built 4l60 from a vendor or a 6l80.
That's my vote.

Really? did you READ his mods?

Buy a rebuilt trans from a vendor on ebay, save yourself 1000+$

Your car at 190k miles may or may not make it another 190.. but if you're just now replacing trans then I would say go with another stocker =)

With the mods listed it is a pretty straight forward build.
1.Rebuild kit w/borg warner clutches.2.transgo hd2 kit(install high rev spring kit that it comes with)3.delete the pwm for lock up turn it into on off.4.high energy band.5.dual cage input sprag.6.reinforce input drum w piston & sleeve from sonnax.7. pump slide spring also sonnax.8.beast sunshell.9 new solenoids & seperator plate.10.deep pan. Make sure you put line pressure back to stock in the tune. Also put new accumulators in.
