Stock pump idle: 35psi
ARE pump idle: 45psi
Stock pump WOT: 60-65
ARE pump WOT: about 75-80psi

Re: BEST AFTERMARKET OIL PUMP ??? I have the Ktech. 45-48psi @ idle and 65-70psi@ WOT.Lower pressure may also be caused by a old faulty pressure sending unit or excessive main bearing wear.

My new engine has less than an hour run time on it and all of a sudden after I start it up, the check gauges light comes on. I've talked with several forum directors and they seem to think that the pump failed.(brand new pump) So looks like a new one for me.

Miles </strong></font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">You can try replacing the sending unit or sticking a mechanical gauge on there. Or tearing down the engine to look at the bearings (I highly doubt you want to do that).
All I can say is that ALWAYS replace the oring when putting in a new pump. Trust me. I wouldn't be surprised if you took your pump off right now and found that the oring was missing. It happened to me once, even though my friend and I both know we put the oring on there.

I have a friend with an A.R.E. ported pump that idles 45+ and goes 80+ at wot. Thats what i want. When the builder built the stroker i didnt know what i know now. So i gotta pull the cam, & while im at it i might as well put in a good oil pump. FYI i gotta have the only stroker that has only 340 rwhp ( he picked the cam 205/212 .540 ). I think im going to the mti R1, and i really like what ive heard about A.R.E. oil pumps. <img border="0" alt="[driving]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_driving3.gif" />

The pump I had before I bought from a guy on this board. I actually took the pump out today and found that it looked the same as a stock oil pump inside and out with the exception of an indentation on the rear of one of the pumps. Inside, the "ported oil pump" was some small pieces of trash holding the valve open. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="gr_sad.gif" /> I think it was suppose to be ported (at least that was what I was told). <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" /> I am now running a NEW GM LS1 oil pump and I have 40psi of pressure at idle. I haven't got a chance to WOT it yet. My NEW GM pump looked a lot better than the supposedly ported unit that I bought. It was even polished. The "ported one" had small stress fractures inside and out where as the GM unit was flawless. So, all in all I saved aprox. $70 by buying a stock one from the dealership over a ported unit. From now on if it needs to be ported I'll do it myself. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

40 PSI @ Idle
55 PSI @ Cruise and Above

Re: BEST AFTERMARKET OIL PUMP ??? I just installed a TR oil pump today on my rebuild. It has around 60psi @ cold start, 43psi @ idle, 55psi @ cruise, and ??psi @ WOT ( only has 25 miles on the new short block). So far I like my TR pump for $129.
