Default Procharger guys with truck hat come in

I have a d1 kit with front mount. I have a truck hat that I cant seem to get to fit right. Heck, I cant even get it to go on the blower all the way (yes I took the metal inner ring of the hat out). I can get one side past the lip but cant get the other side to get on. Can someone post their pics of what theirs looks like? I cant get mine to stay on the head unit.

Can't post pics right now but I use a silicone reducer that goes from the OD of the inlet elbow to the OD if the blower inlet. Works just fine. I got it from silicone Intakes. I'll see if I can't find that email with the part number.

Hmmm that might work. Did you have the same problem I did with trying to get the hat to fit over the blower inlet?

Weird .... Mine slipped right on. Is there like a bur on the plastic or anything? I used a t-bolt clamp to hold it on.

I dont think so. I just cant get it on there fully. I can only get one side over the little lip on the head unit. I tried to put a clamp over it like that but that just forced itself off.

Im going to mess with mine again tonight. I might make I little slit in it so I can get it to go over the blower and then clamp it back down. Ill let you know if it works.

Fitment with the stock radiator support is a pain in the ***...I ended up trimming as I'm a function > form kinda guy lol. There's some real interesting threads out there on what people have made for an inlet. I even tried one of those "Mushroom" style filters and it ended up being more of a restriction then good. I might try and get an actual HKS one and see how it does...I couldn't make more then 13psi with it where as with the truck inlet and a medimum size K&N I made 15.80psi. I made 18 with nothing on it at all lol

My issue wasn't contact with the radiator support it was getting the hat over the dang blower. I finnaly put a big slit in the hat so it would go over the lip of the blower and then I clamped it down. hopefully it will work. So agrivating.

I had no issues getting my truck hat on my D1. Try using a hairdryer or some other low heat on it to soften the plastic a little and it should slide on. It's tight, but it fits.

mine came off. i went to napa and got a damn good t bolt clamp and put a bead of silicone around the edge where i knew it would never be able to get sucked in. let that dry over night and then zip tied it to relieve the weight and then clamped it down. it never moved again. until the motor let go. then i took it off. and the silicone was very easy to remove and was clean overall

carve off some plastic on the inside and the little hump on the outside so the clamp won't slide away from the edge. takes a while to get it right

mine doesnt really fit well. i had to grind the rib off the outside of the hat where it connects to the blower. every time i go to tighten mine, it pulls itself off the blower. it does rest on the radiator, so it isnt like its going to fall off. but its loose as ****. So your not the only one. I dont know if id trust a silicone coupler. Id be afraid it would collapse and reduce boost, or worse, get sucked into the blower lol. I think i will try a T-Bolt clamp, instead of a hose clamp.

usually its just an issue of getting it to stay on, even more so when using the supplied band blamps. I have a vid here of my first startup, and you can actually see if fall off at idle!

Mine also was a crappy fit. I used a die grinder on the inside and removed a small amount of material. It then slipped right on. I use a T bolt clamp to hold it on the blower which works well. My problem is I can't fit the big filter on with the way I have my IC piping routed.

I found that the issue was with the procharger itself. At the top, there is a tight space where the lip on the hat was hitting the procharger. Here's a pic of where I'm talking about:

So on the hat, you have to trim the lip that's on the edge down in that area so that the hat will go all the way on. Once you do that, it'll seat fine. I also found putting some heat to the plastic helps as well. Not a lot, I'm talking hairdryer hot.

I'm going to design myself a nice metal inlet like BigRob did for his. Since I'm standing up the radiator I'll have a decent amount of room to work with.
