Default 11:1 to much for boost?

I'm not an expert with forced induction, most of my time has been spent running nitrous over the years. I'm getting the itch to run some boost now. My car is a stock bottom end H/C LS1 which is right at 10.9-11.0:1 compression. Is that to high of compression for boost? It currently makes 410/393 and i'd like to be around 500-525hp on boost. Any input is much appreciated.

I would say on a stock bottom end car 6 pounds would last maybe with some meth for security.. What heads do you have that make your compression 11:1?

E85 or methanol, be conservative on the timing i don't see why it wouldn't hold.

Pounds of boost is irrelevant, power output is what matters. Seen Honda (open deck motors) run 12.5:1 compression on 10psi (forged internals of course). but it held till he pulled the pistons for something lower. He's running 10:1 right now.

E85 is very limited around here, so i don't plan on making the switch over.

11:1 is what I run, 130k mile stock bottom end LS1. H/C/I + 76mm turbo, normally run around 8lbs of boost on 92 + 100% meth injection, but have ran up to 11-15lbs with av gas. Kind of a non-winter daily driver, put 5k miles on the turbo setup and beat the **** out of all the time. It's not ideal but I didn't want to get rid of my current heads. I will throw a 5.3 in it when it blows.

You and i think alike. I just put these heads on a few months ago and i don't want to get rid of them. And when or if i go boosted, i'll throw in a 5.3 when the LS1 blows. My bottom end has 91k right now and i had been spraying the **** out of it since it had 55k.

Sell the ls1, get a 5.3 with arp hardware, ls9 headgaskets etc, and you'll still have money for another 5.3 back up.
