Gears & Axles - how hard are burnouts on a rear?

have a stock ten bolt....car is an m6. making 375 iish to the wheels......i know that when i drop the clutch to do a burnout, i always here a bang from the rearend......just wondering how long it will take for something to break back there.......im not launching the car, which im sure is worse....would getting a linelock make it less hardon the rear?

Stop doing burnouts? Lol. All I can tell you is just yesterday I was at the track, pulled into waterbox did a decent burnout with 0 issues. Went to line up and on green I heard a massive clunk out of the rear, car still made it down the track but on the way back it did not sound good. Ended up towing it home. Point is clearly burnouts arnt as rough on it, lol, though I guess that is out of a water box though.

You probably have a worn suspension bushing or something is not tight enough with the suspension or torque arm. Other than the initial hit to get the tires turning over a burnout is one of the least stressful aggressive driving things you can do to the rear end. The tires are just spinning with no load on them. I think line lock is a good choice for doing the burnout at the track.

the burnouts aren't as hard on the rear as the launches... I've broken two 10-bolts on less power than you have.

well both my camaros did it......pretty sure im doing burnous right.....just takingthe car to 5000, and just throwing the clutch andhitting the brake

its just kinda sounds like a big engagement bang of some kind

I bet the 5k dump makes a bang. Are you getting a good burnout by sort of brake torquing it like that? I've never tried that. Just figured I'd get rid of the abs and use a line lock.
On the street I just slip the clutch alittle and start pullin' gears, but I'm not trying to stay stationary either.

make sure your torque arm mount is good and solid. Thatll make a nice bang when you torque the rear end that quickly.
