Default Need the pros help again, Valvetrain noise

Ok folks, I have a 2000 z28, With a lq4 6.0 in it, When we got the engine we put new cam bearings, rod bearings, main bearings, rings an cleaned everything up, We put a decent 231/236 cam like .600 lift, I believe patriot dual gold valve springs, Hardened push rods, New stock lifters from oriellys which is a local parts store here in town, almost new rocker arms, stock, meiling oil pump, Oil pressure stays around 70 on the gauge wot, cruising probably 60psi, It has about 10,000 miles on the build now, If that, It started having a ticking sound around 4000 miles, Not bad though, like most ls cars have with cams, Well now its a loud ticking/knocking sound. Its not a bearing we are pretty sure of that.As we know what that sounds like, lol, So we thought maybe we pinched the oil pump o ring,So we tore it apart 2 days ago an it wasnt bad but we went ahead an put the new one on anyways, as in oring, Put it all back together an noise is still there just as loud, It sounds like lifters in a way, very bad lifters, But would all the lifters go bad at same time? an being new? Only thing i can think of is lifters or rocker arms an they look fine along with the valvesprings, Any help would be awesome, I have a sound clip but cant post it for some reason, i just dont want to pull the heads off change the lifters an it be somethingelse an i still have the noise, the car is solid mounted an has head studs, So it wont be fun pulling the heads off, thanks again folks for any help, If i figure how to post vid i will.

Worth a shot I guess: pull the valve covers and get a kid or broad with small fingers to try to spin the pushrods with each lifter on the base circle.

Post your assembled clearance measurements for mains & rods, and lifter preload measurement data.

Hey flip if you collapsed a lifter it *might* be loose. As far as posting a vid, you can upload to YouTube and then embed a link here. I think you can do the same with photobucket.

Imo you should not be getting on something that has issues at idle. It sounds like something is up electrically or on the top end, but I am no expert. Did you verify the wipe pattern? What are your lifters and what did you set for preload?

And did you replace your lifter trays or go linkbar?

O'Reillys lifters????? Scary.
Did you cut the filter open, and see what's there?
Why would you run oil psi that high?
Is the gauge accurate?

Oriellys, AutoZone. Part store lifters are the same,, OEM style,.didn't think they would he a bad choice but if they are I won't buy them again, an as oil pressure that's what the meilling pump pushed it too, not sure why, but i know I have pressure lol, I'm 100% sure its not electrical, its mechanical. An ok ill try to upload the video then tonight, an yea i know its A bad idea to get on it just wanted to see how it did wot, well it didn't do good lol, I'm hoping to beable to work on it some today if the rain stays gone long enough. Thanks everyone for all the opinions,

possible bent pushrods. If the lifter brgs go bad they will squeal and you'll find alot of metal. You might have some loose rocker arm bolts?

ive checked the bolts on both sides on the rockers, their good. It almost sounds like when you first change out lifters on a car an first starting up an the lifters arent built up, I have a vid im about to try to post

spin the engine over by hand and check all the push rods for any slack or looseness .check the rocker arm trunnion bearings also.air up the cylinders 1 at a time and check for any leaky valves.

That engine sounds very unhappy...if it was a dog, I'd have it put to sleep.

It sounds like two discrete noise sources. Valvetrain is likely one of them, the other almost sounds like a big exhaust leak.

Did you ever get an accurate lifter preload measurement?

Lol, I'd probably have to aswell if it was a dog lol, I actually just took the covers off an pulled the rockers and pushrods checked all of them an their good. before pulling apart I disconnected the coils an injectors an had my wife crank it over, everything looked good, an apart looks good, so I reckon next step is to pull the cam out an check it????????? Then the heads off for lifters????? My pushrod length is 7.425, as when we was doing the setup the pushrod length checker showed to run that length.

Sounds like lifters to me. Pull the cam, hopefully it didn't get damaged. Also check the valve stems. I had the same sound when one of my lifters took a dump.
Also from the response to my thread, looks like those patriot dual springs are garbage!!!
