Default Standard rotation v reverse rotation...

I have a 68 camaro w an lq4. I want a pro charger, but will have to fab my own kit. Do I need a reverse rotation head unit? What is the difference?

Assuming your using a belt drive unit the way the air enters the supercharger will dictate forward or reverse drive. If the air entry faces backwards (rear of car) you need standard rotation. If the air enters from the front of the car you need reverse rotation.
If you run a gear drive from Blower shop or Alston you need a standard rotation unit.

I would reverse rotation and modify the hat maybe and piping of intercooler but at least the belts would line up easy. How much power do you want?

Those Alston units look great! I imagine they are pricey though. I'm only making about 320 to the wheels now. Car is lq4 w/ls3 top end, 222/230 .570 lift cam, through a very heavy drivetrain. 500 rwhp would be awesome.

A p-1sc will do that easy probably more like 600 the Alston bracket is pricey a 8 rib will get you there easy but look at a aster bracket if you go higher.

The problem is that I can't mount my alternator down low. It hits the frame. I think this precludes the Aster. Any bracket options that will mount the head unit at the top/passenger side?

C5 & C6 Vettes mount at the top passenger side & use reverse rotation chargers.
Check them out for ideas.

If you mount the blower with the inlet facing forwards it will be reverse rotation

If you mount it facing rearwards it will be clockwise.

It's entirely up to you and space available which you opt for

If you want to see any of the installation instructions for the ProCharger kits, send me an e-mail to brutespeed@gmail.com and tell me which ones you want me to e-mail. Bob

older thread but maybe this helps if anybody ever searches for something similar.....i´m doing the same setup right now and i used a reverse rotation C5 kit cause i already had the corvette acessorys and with the c5 kit i had not to deal with any alternator issues. my stuff came from pace performance and was one of the non A/C special setups they sell. with the reverse rotation it is a no brainer and you don´t have to get brackets or move the alternator.
