is this the wrong Housing 4 04 5.3? 160 stat won't fit wft !!!

Looks more like the wrong t-stat. It should have two tabs opposite of each other that lock into those legs on the housing

The housing you show is for GenIII (requires a GenIII TS (has ears that mate to those tangs)).

The TS you show is for GenIV (requires a GenIV housing (has no ears, and no harness post)).


Also note that a GenIII housing will not fit into a GenIV pump (unless you file the tangs for clearance).

I just went through the same thing. GM has two pumps, the replacement pump has the two piece t-stat.

P/N for the two piece housing is 12600172 local dealer wanted $61

Do you have old-style pump and old-style TS/housing...?

Does your housing fit into the pump...?

If it doesn't (ears of housing interfere on size of bore in pump) then you have the new-style pump.
