G5X3 -vs- F13
I have finally narrowed it down between these two cams. i was just wondering if any of you have any graphs of these cams with STOCK LS1 heads? I would really like to see the power band compared on both.
From what I have read on the forum It looks like the G5 will make a little more piwer but both seem to make amazing power with stock heads while still remaingin streetable.
i plan on a 114 +1 or 2.
Thanks.

Yes i have the FM13 I am doing my own tuning and havent gotten to the dyno as yet. My impressions so far about teh cam is it pulls like a fugging raped ape all the way to 6500 (limiter set at 6600 need to get to the dyno to verify when it stops pulling). I am on stock heads, stock exhaust manifold and LM and its definately a lot stronger and accelerates like a bat outta hell. She lopes pretty hard partly because i am idleing at 800 stock idle with a 1/4" hole in the TB (did this because my pcm was cooked when i installed the cam and edit wouldnt flash the new PCM so I had no choice). I am in the process of tuning it as we speak. It surges a litte at 1500 rpm and dies when i turn the ac on but i am dilgently working to get that sqaured away. Other than that this cam is simply the ****. If you are in MD we can meet up so you can hear it some time.

Both cams are AWESOME from what i have seen here and the G5x3 is considerably bigger than the FM13 as the G5x2 has specs of 232/240 with over .600 lift and the x3 is bigger than that!

RIght on. Yeah that what I have read around the forum is that Alans cams are monster power makers but they dont cross that .600 lift mark as do the Gx and TRex cams. I am going to give both Allen and Lou a call Tuesday and get one of them on order. Im in serious need of more power!!!

From what ive seen (I havent done a FM13 locally so no proof) but the LG cams pull harder up top and make low end. Thats not to say the FM13 is a bad cam, but out of the 10+ LG cams ive done, all had perfect drivability, ALL use the A/C without dying as it hits 120+ here in the summers, and a couple of my customers use them in auto cars with no problems, one of them is handicapped so you KNOW he needs good drivability! No problems for him though and he drives it everyday!
My vote goes for LGs cams as they are flawless in performance, have NO stumbling issues or surging, pull to a dyno verified 7000 rpm without dropping, and make insane low end. In addition fuel mileage is not greatly affected, which I have personally tested myself!

I don't know why some people still compare lift numbers to harsh cams. Just because a cam has big lift, dosen't mean it is a hard cam. I just recieved a cam that was miss ground from what I wanted. It had .630 lift, but the lobes were so soft, you prolly could've gotten away with 918's. The lobes on both of these cams are harsh. Alan uses a grind of his own from cam motion and from what I here, it is as hard, if not harder than a XE-R lobe, which is what LG grinds there X series cams on. In my opinion, the X-3 has to much split at 8 degrees seperation. I prefer 6 or below. Both cams will perform great, but the LG cam will make more peak power due to it being "slightly" bigger. Alan's cam will make more power "under curve", due to the smaller duration and harder lobe. Either way, I'd get both cams ground +4 advance.

yea my F13 has crappy low end torque look at my graph
the very beginning is partial throttle350rwtq at 3000 aint too shabby to be going through a 12 bolt on 18 inch wheels air filter in place

Don't you both have aftermarket heads though? That graph of Mike's car is with stock heads, granted Z06 heads, but stock. And it's just shy of the same torque at 3000rpm as Kurtomac's with TEA heads.
Gomer - Aren't your dyno numbers done with short belt, no air filter, and a cutout open? What does a shop dyno mean?
All these cars are making excellent power with cams, it's just personal preference I guess on what cam you choose.
Nice graph Kurtomac, VERY smooth HP graph, looks like you have a decent tune.
What timing are you guys running?? I think we are running around 23 degrees or less here in AZ during the hotter months, plus we can thank CA for their shitty gas, 91 octane MAX with all kinds of crap added to it.
