Raced my friend's SR20DET 240sx :)
Had three runs, one from a dig, two from a roll. Last time he dyno'ed his car, he put 279hp and 259 lbs-fts to the rear wheels. Since then his exhaust manifolds cracked so he had to put his stockers on (loss of ~20 rwhp). Anyways, from a dig I stomped him, he didn't get into boost quick enough to catch me, and I shut down at 70mph. The first roll we went from 45mph, which is a bad spot for him. I jumped to a 2-3 car lead and continued to walk him all the way up to 120mph when I let off. Second roll was the best race, went from a 40 mph punch. We hit it and he stuck with me through second, I hit third pulled ~1 car and held, hit 4th and pulled ~1 more car and held it until I let off at 120mph. I would've liked to see what his car had on the big top-end, but his ecu cuts off the fuel at 118mph (stock sr20det ecu). Anyways, I was really impressed by me beating him, because I have personally witnessed him stomp C5's time and time again. Also, he raced and beat a yellow 360 Modena that lives around here. Makes me wish I had the extra cash to buy a little 240sx and swap in a sr20det for a daily driver that's fun.

I forget off the top of my head, but I know he at least has a turbo-back exhaust, manifolds, intake, aluminum flywheel, bov, and some other stuff. His car is no joke, and he is no ricer. He also has some road course suspension stuff and 17 inch lightweight rims /w 275's all the way around. His next few mods are going to be a bigger turbo and new manifolds to replace his broken ones.

I have a friend with a '89 240 SX with the DET20 and it's pretty crazy. It's a total sleeper and catches everyone by surprise. He had a Sentra SE-R before that which was faster but sold it infavor of the 240 because of the drivetrain.

I agree, I like anything that goes fast, rice, german or american. It doesn't matter to me as long as it is fast.

Yup, my first death in my Formy was to a dented trashy looking fastback 240. Had different color body panels and just looked like a junk car. He saw me walking from my car and asked if I wanted to run on the highway.
Twenty minutes later I'm getting walked badly. He traps low 120's with a built SR.

If I had enough money I would buy one and swap a DET in it. I had a Sentra SE-R with just enough money saved up for a turbo kit...but then the motor blew. Somehow the turbo money turned into a WS6 sitting in my driveway

Modlist:
S14 SR20DET, VVT w/ JE forged pistons, stock forged rods and crank
ARP Headstuds, semi-metallic head gasket
Dyno'd with the JIC stainless tubular manifold, it has since cracked and I'm running a stock cast-iron log style manifold.
Stock S14 SR T28 ballbearing turbo, GReddy 3" ss o2 housing, blitz 3" ss downpipe, heavy throttle 3" ss test pipe, A'PEXi GT-Spec catback (3" to 3.75"), blitz filter, GReddy VSPL FMIC, Type-S BOV, GReddy high-capacity oil tank, Z32 (300ZX twinturbo) fuel pump, GReddy ProfecB SpecII boost controller, A'PEXi S-AFC fuel controller, A'PEXi auto timer
Koyo aluminum radiator w/ FAL dual 12" fans
Fidanza 11lb aluminum flywheel, ACT "Street kit" w/ "xtreme" pressure plate
I also have a few suspension mods, though my springs and shocks aren't very good for much better than decent handling, Tokico HP's and Eibach pro-kit, suspension techniques anti-sway bars, cusco strut tower bar and tension rods (caster adjustment)
Currently running 235/45ZR17 F and 245/45ZR17 R Yokohama AVS ES100's, not the best for grip but the wear compared to my Falken Azenis is a crapload better. I am thinking about trying to fit 275/45ZR17 for rear tires once I get adjustable suspension to compensate for the rubber.
Kely's car's pretty fast for a Vette, comparitively I have raced a 285bhp Z06 as well and held it dead-even from a launch, my dad's car is a 405bhp Z06 so I know those are a bit quicker.
We need to race again and see if I can get a better launch, the grip on these tires is much different than my sticky Falkens.

I meant 385bhp... the "my dad's car is a 405bhp Z06" part kinda lets you know I made a typo.

Yep, those can be some damn good sleepers. I had one ~3yrs ago and suprised alot of people. haha I see you have the VVT any problems with it? Its been along time since I've gone to any of those boards. I had an 89 fastback with a S13 red top and a few mods here and there.
