Default what makes vettes faster than f-bodys

just curious...year for year what is done differently to a vette to make them faster? And how much faster are they?

The C5's weren't much quicker than LS1 f-bodies. Most are a little faster because they are a couple hundred pounds lighter.

They weigh a lot less, have true dual exhaust and up until 2001 they had a larger cam I believe. The biggest difference is just in the weight difference.

same horsepower and less weight. do the math...

and "faster" is a relative term.

3,439 lbs for a base model Z28 compared to 3,245 lbs for the base model Vette in 1998.

The Vette's independant rear suspension, lower center of gravity, and lower overall weight make them faster on a road course or autoX course. The independant rear suspension gives them better traction coming out of turns, and less unsprung weight.

wow i was under the assumption that the motor actually had more power but it sounds like its mostly just the car itself.

So if you had an ls1 vette motor sitting next to an f-body motor the only difference might be the cam? (and stuff like the electric throttle body, manifolds etc obviously)

c5's and fbodies both dyno the same. c5's even a little lower due to the IRS.

well see here, the main diff is that vetts come with a little thing called E.J.C.O.D which is electronically controlled to inject a special aditive straigth to the conbustion chamber above 5k rpm much like an americanise vtech for the vett. This is what really gives the vett its top end power at high speeds

by the way E.J.C.O.D= electronic injection crack on demand. lol o man i craked my self up i bet you guys where reading that post and wondering what i was smoking, lol o man tu funny .

Hi Guys,
First the Vette has a better weight distribution than the F-Body – stock-to-stock. That gives them better traction right off the bat. The weight per vehicle, the Vette weights less (this has been pointed out before).
