Default New AFR 205/FM13 trying to dial in...idle issue

Well new AFR 205 heads, FM13 114 cam, nextek springs, FAST intake all on...seems like we have a problem with the "Idle Adjust Motor" on the throttle body hanging up and not responding...i'm passing on this from my mechanic. Any comments...anyone with problems like this?

The motor is being set up for a dyno tune asap. We have enlarged the idle hole in stock TB to 3/16...stopping there until we get new "idle adjust motor". BTW I have a 2000, stock bottom, AT. Please feel free to wander off the question with any suggestions of preparing for the first few hundred miles witgh new heads, intake and cam.

So your mechanic changed heads, cam, intake etc. and thinks the idle motor went bad???

Not went "bad" suddenly i recently had slight idle surging before we did this work. We figured we would trouble shoot all during this rebuild...the idle control motor on the throttle body doesn't respond...it gets hung up. It idles if held at 800-900 rpm...it simply won't hold itself there -- remove idle control motor and move it to a faster idle position and wait for it to do it;s work and slow idle and it stays at the faster position...maybe i'm doing a poor job of describing the issue. had a few cool ones during Clemson v USC game tonight.

u just need to get it tuned before anything. dont drill the TB anymore! flip the idle set screw up and adjust that to open the TB blade a bit. Very nice setup btw!

Thanks - man it sounds real strong...i'm not sure i was prepared..,No idle screw that i'm aware of...set at tune? We did stop at the 3/16 opening and will drill no more.

i also have the f13 and it sounds so damn good! well back to the idle set screw...im gonna assume u have a fbod. its under where the throttle cable connects. its a t15 screw. the head is under so you have to take it out and screw it down instead of up. does that make sense?

We will be looking...no biggie to take it out...have to trim the throttle cable guide too to facilitate full open anyway.

Why? You can simply adjust the cable to make sure you opening the throttle 100% without trimming anything.

That seems like it might work...no wonder i work with electronics and computers not large mechanical stuff! I knew to look out for the issue on another post...didn't give it much thought. Glad you did!!
