my exhaust is way louder with ac on why?

Not to highjack, but I noticed back when I had my v10 2500 dodge ram, it felt like it made more power and was quicker when i had the a/c on. All I could think of was that maybe the computer bumped the timing up to compensate for the extra load

And the cars with smaller motors (4 cyl) have even required noticeably more throttle input to acheive the same acceleration level with the A/C on vs being off.
I loved the power my old v10 dodge made, but the 10 mpg at best on teh highway was horrible.
