Default LS6 block in a 2002 z28 how can you tell??

i think i might have an ls6 block in my 2002 z28 because the water pump in not one from a 98-2002 because i just got a hypertech 160 stat and it does not fit, how can you tell if you have an ls6 block in a 2002 z28 camaro, i heard they put some in because they ran out of the ls1's, thanks

All you have to do is check the casting numbers on the block. I believe it is on the drivers side between the rear of the block and the firewall. Not exactly sure though.

check the FAQ about ls6 blocks. at any rate, you probably ordered or were shipped the wrong HPP stat because the block is inconsquential to the water pump.

the ls6 bock is a stronger block from what i am told but i am not sure i mean if they ran out of ls6 blocks might be a reason that i got an corvette water pump, who knows all bolts looked like they have not been touched, that is why i am asking...just strange

https://ls1tech.com/forums/showpost....86&postcount=8 Btw whoever told you the LS6 is stronger has it backwards. Ls1 is stronger.
