Default Post up if you have a 3bar SD EFI/HPT tuned stock pcm FI car.

I see lots of posts about 2 bar FI cars. Very few 3bar. I'm changing from a 2 bar to a 3 bar. How's the drivability? Did you use the Delphi 3bar map #12223861? That's the best low kPa resolution 3bar I could find. If this rain ever quits, I'll get to retune the 3bar.

I am gonna follow along. I am gonna go straight to a 3 Bar setup with my car and the EFI Live and RoadRunner setup.

My car drives fine with it but it is also loose auto. I wonder how the driveability would change with a 6 speed.

I have a 3 bar stock PCM FI car. (and have tuned many others). Driveability is absolutely beautiful, much better than MAF.

Not sure of the map sensor part # but we get them from FAST.

The 3bar map I bought from Speed Inc (FAST brand) is made by Delphi. Best low resolution 3 bar I could find. Specs are here:

http://www.powerandsignal.com/docs/P...s/12223861.pdf

My 2bar SD tune drives much better than the maf tune....much more control over WOT af ratio too as compared to RPM vs PE tuning. The open loop tuned in so well with part throttle transitions, I'll probably leave the O2's turned off, remove them and run some leaded 112 at the track.

Hopefully, the 3bar will tune in as well as the 2bar.

Delphi also makes a 3 bar map sensor that plugs in like the factory 1bar....but the low end resolution isn't as good as the one above.

Only two members so far running 3bar....

It's still raining here...I'm going to set the scalar and install it tomorrow even if I have to drive it on jack stands....idle and decel are the lowest ends of kPa resolution anyway. I idle at 35kPa and decel down to 20kPa.

That 3 bar sensor is the one everyone has been using forever. Its the old TTA 3bar sensor, FAST, MSD and several others sell it but its the same sensor, I have one on my car too

Drivability is great on my car as long as nothing is breaking. I didnt tune the car, but im running the 3 bar setup on stock pcm with rc engineering 75# inj's.

For the most part everything is real smooth and enjoyable, long as the neighbors dont come out screaming at me for my open downpipe, lol.

ONFIRE-

How far are you from Richmond

I'm about to dive into 3-bar, most likely this coming week...

6hours

The SD part is easy in EFI Live. I stumbled at first by using a "starter tune" that was wacked. If you go through their tutorial step by step it's a walk in the park. It just takes more time than RPM vs PE since you have to populate a larger VE table....but the extra control is nice.

Post up or pm any questions that you have. My 2bar tune took some time driving the car to get the VE table spot on, but it's worth it. Part throttle is much nicer than the maf tune.

I am using HPT.. I'd like to be able to go open loop too, my 02s do some funky **** and I just wiped a set out with leaded 116 befoer the dyno....

6 hours from Richmond and yer still in VA??!? heh heh I didn't know that there was such a place save for that south-west "piece" of the state that sticks out...

You'll be fine with HPT.

Just look for the Bristol NASCAR track and you'll see our spot in the world.

I've been working on my HPT 3-bar tune this fall. The driveability had been good which is a nice perk, but that's not why we go to 3-bar.

I was a major skeptic at first. RPM vs PE worked over 700rwhp. You'll really like SD. It takes some time to tune/run/log/tune/repeat....but it is more accurate as the boost moves. Plus removing the maf as a restriction and removing the O2's for race gas is a plus.

I'm tuning in segments to build a VE table that will work for all boost levels. Starting on gate spring only (10psi) and moving up 2 psi at a time on EB2. Getting the first 10 psi and part throttle tune was 95% of the work....start rich and lean er down.....and don't get arrested running WFO on the street.

Quick Reply: Post up if you have a 3bar SD EFI/HPT tuned stock pcm FI car.
