Default Plates already owning me :(

Okay, I have a few guesses as to what is wrong but I will refrain so as to not bias the advice I get.

When driving around in 6th at 65mph my car "hiccuped" 2x and I put it in 5th and it was ok. I put in 6th a mile later and it was fine, drove another 30 minutes and then it did it again and I took my foot off the gas and pushed the clutch in and she died. Cranked right back up (after checking all fluid levels manually). I pulled a U to come back home as I wanted to get her home and when accelerating it cut out on me a couple times and was then okay. I did not have another problem all the way home. I had NO SES light or anything like that and oddly it seemed to do it on a hill or just after going over one or when accelerating. It never did it when idling in traffic or accelerating/cruising on flat area. I just put gas in about 20 miles ago the other day. This is the first time I drove it today (well, 2nd, but the first time wasnt but a 3 mile rnd trip.)

Anyone have ANY idea whats up?

PS. when I say "hiccup" I mean lost ALL power for about 1/2-1 second and then came back like nothing was wrong. Kinda "jerked" the car when it did it.

Sorry man, but I did warn you yesterday about this.

When you say "lost all power", do you mean all engine power only, or all electrical power as well?

So how was it running immeadiatly before it "cut out"? Any roughness or sputtering?

Too bad you don't have a scanner. It'd be nice to see if you have any pending DTCs (won't flash the MIL if still pending, but will show on a-tap or the like).

It hiccuped and ran 110% normal, the hiccups came a few seconds (1-2 and sometimes 5-10) apart and then it ran fine, no sputter, NOTHING, like it never happened.

Alot of times if you are going too slow if 6th gear their will be slight power loss simple b/c their isnt enough power in 6th gear at that low RPMs to move the car. I know when im in 6th and if it drops to around 50ish-55 mph then it will hesitate a little before it goes

bogging down will make it feel like a spark cut off.

could be your clutch slipping too. when you test the clutch for slippage, 6th gear at 35-45mph and mail it, the car will buck back and forth. slipping clutch= no power.

My clutch is fine and I put 93 in the tank. It wasnt a "clutch slipping" that doesnt drop RPMS. The car just had NO POWER. When I got off of the gas/clutch once it flat died. Dad thinks its a fuel issue. I tend to agree, not all 8 of my coil packs took a temporariy **** and I had the gas down in 4th gear once when it did it so I know it had air. Must be fuel IMHO. Fuel filter has about 5K miles on it, we will pull and inspect/replace it sunday.

Meh, had problems since day 1 with the car, I dont think this is anything new. Like I always said, these cars are fun, but high maintenance. I am sure I will find whatever it is and maybe it will be simple/cheap and it will be okay again

I think your particular car is high maintenance. That doesn't seem to be the norm for these cars though. The fun part is pretty normal though.

That is my favorite movie.

I first saw that movie when I was a kid back in the mid-80s. I've wanted a '58 Fury ever since then.

fuel pump or clogged fuel filter.

I'd change the fuel filter first, then start diagnosing fuel system. First thing to check is fuel pump relay, see if there's an issue there.

I had that issue on my 88 car, it'd "hiccup" once in awhile, enough to just notice. Once in a blue moon it'd just die for no reason when at a stoplight. Then one cold day when filling the rad, it died in my driveway.

Not sure if you have a friend nearby with a LS1, but I'd listen to his fuel pump prime then listen to your prime and see if you can "hear" a pitch difference when priming.

My fuel pump has 58psi at idle and 54PSI at WOT, tested at the GM dealership about 3 weeks ago. They said it was steady at both. I am checking fuel filter sunday and changing it as well. I ran a can of Chemtool12 through the tank a while back, maybe it liquified some **** and it stopped the filter up.
