I'm pretty sure if you just swap the K member, wiring harness and computer you're good to go.

You will need the computer and harness, you will have to re-wire the harness a little bit to make everything function correctly. The K member is different, I`m not sure but the steering rack may be different, I know the v6 and LS1 rack is different. The T56 6spd is different between the LS1 and LT1 cars. The fuel system is slightly different, but you can use a vette filter/pressure regulator. There is a lot of info about the 4th gen LS1 swaps if you look around.

with all those differences, i'd ask myself is it cost effective or would i just be better off selling the LT1 car and buying an LS1 car to begin with?

yea i got an ls1 in my 96 camaro, you gotta do a little wiring to get the pcm to work with the current body control module. Kmember, rack, steering shaft, computer, harness, tranny crossmember i cant remember all the little **** , throttle cable. I was fortunate enough to have a donor car. Car might be for sale soon.

I've got a 95Z with a T56.. as far as trans, what will I need to do to get an LS1 to match up? Also, I don't even have the bcm.. will this be a huge issue?

cost effective??? i was a able to do it for under $5k... and i sold my old forged rods/pistons, h/c Lt1 w/ computer, tranny and vig stall for $2400, so in reallity i spent under $2600 out of pocket cost

and thats with the motor, tranny and everything in it...
MMS stage 2 heads
mahle forged -4cc pistons
h-beam rods
all 3 wiringing harnesses (didnt have to do it but i got it at a goood deal)
ls1 gauge cluster
pcm
MMS 229 cam
New Yank pt4000
98 fuel tank (another one of those didnt have to but got it for $65 w/ the whole assembly)
k-memeber
ls1 steering rack (came with the motor)
ls6 intake
P&P tb
all the gaskets
all the machine work (ie, hone, degrease the block, turn the crank, balance the botttom-end)
98+ abs block
98+ front and rear brakes
98 BCM
fuel rail
valve covers
coil packs

all the AN lines and fittings for my fuel system (-6an line all the way from the tank w/ a russell in-line fuel filter)

think thats about it... the only reason i actually went thru with it was i got the long block for $500 w/ new yella terra rockers and a new billet U/D pulley, which i sold the U/D and rockers for $375...which came out to only $125 for the longblock

and actually had a lot of left over parts that i had 1 extra set of valve covers, coil packs, 2 extra coil pack harnesses, extra cam sensor, 2 extra fuel rails, and some bolts that i bought from the dealer, extra set of head bolts, and some other misc parts..

I am not a manual trans expert, but I think that you would need an extended pilot bushing. When GM designed the LS1 they shortened the crank by 0.400", so the input shaft of the LT1 T56 would be too short. I think that the LS1 clutch will work. There is a bunch of information about adapting older style manual transmissions in the FAQ sticky and if you do a search.

What don`t you have the BCM for? If you are missing the BCM from the LS1 motor it is not a problem, but if you are missing the BCM from the 95z you will be missing a lot of functions on the car. The LS1 motors will run without a BCM, most of the guys that put them into older cars get rid of the BCM.
