Default aftermarket heads & temp gauge problem

I have a set of brodix heads on my car, and there is no place to put the water temp gauge sensor in the head. also I am a little eerie about drilling into my brand new heads to make a place for the sensor. so I also thought about just pugging the sensor into a watter hose somewhere and getting a temp reading that way, but I am a little scared that it wont be accurate enough. then I called some shop (not sure witch one, long story) and this guy on the phone was telling me about a gauge that I could use to read the temp of the heads that did not need a watter source, that really sounded like what I needed, but I just want to make sure i get the right thing, because as you know the temp of my motor is VERY important. any input is greatly appreciated.

thanks,
Carman

maybe you could drill/tap another hole on the waterpump housing? and just run both temp sensors on it.

The in head temp sensor is just for the dash, so while yes you do want information delivered to you from it it is not a pcm issues so you could move it and just watch for changes from normal.

I believe the Vette used a sesnor in the WP that sent signals both for the pcm and the dash. Used to be a popular mod on the b-body boards, will see if I can find the PN and instructions.

I will say I think that if you have an electric WP the dash sender should be in the head because if an electric stops spinning the heads will heat up FAST but the temp measured at the WP would not.

You would have to extend the wiring from the in head sensor to reach the WP.
Like I said I would not do this with an electric WP because if they stop spinning the motor will overheat badly without seeing it on the gauge.

they are Race Right 180's that have been worked. I used to think they were Track 1's but they are not. either way. they are good heads. got a small runner, and have great flow numbers. but out of the box they are not so good. but the guy that built my motor is good friends with the people at brodix, and had these CNC'd for my application.
