Default opti opotions

a buddys opti went out today and he was wondering what his options were as far as replacing it? He has a lt4 hot cam and most of the bolt ons. He still has warranty on the one that he bought from o'reilys, but dosent want to replace it with another cheap one. any info will help thanks.

MSD or Delteq. Those are both top of the line. Personally i went MSD and i'm very very satisfied with the results.

The Delteq and LTCC still require the optical/lo res portion of the opti as a cam position sensor. If you got the opti and O'Reilly's it's still probably not any good.

i am going to **** on my msd when i pull it off. going back to a factory opti. when a company, that builds 8 sec cars and other crazy setups, tells you the msd sucks before a dyno event. then during the dyno you have major spark issues. well after you changed the plugs, checked the wires, changed the coil and the ICM and the graph still looks like a bad 80's hair cut. i do belive you would hate a msd opti also, much like myself. i would be willing to try the delteq. also screw a dynaspark, if they don't want to make them for people to buy let them sell the design to someone who will fill the orders.

what company sells delteq? or where can i find one? so his options are to warranty the one he got from o'reilys and get the delteq or ltcc. Or he could just buy the msd. I really havent heard to much bad things about the msd. still a hard choice.

www.delteq.com/ I wouldn't warranty the one from O'Reilly's as it might not provide an adequate lo res pulse.

get the MSD

the only people who have problems with it, either installed it wrong, or had problems with the o-ring.

I personally would go with LTCC that bailey-eng.com sells. yes you pay 400 bucks for the harness and the box, you have to buy the ls-1 coils and wires, but have heard nothing but great things with there customer service and the way the system works. All Deltec conversion does is essentially put cadillac style coils on it. Same concept as LTCC but IMHO LTCC is the way to go since they are easy to mount, the LTCC box has built in timing retard for boost, nos what ever. Rev limiter too. If I end up doing the conversion it will be that. my 2 cents

i don't belive that. when a shop that builds cars for a living (ls1 and lt1's) , tells you the msd sucks belive them. they have installed and removed msd's due to issues. i can see getting a bad batch but this is crazy. i had the new square type gasket and i am very carefull with everything i do. i made sure i had clearance and that i used red threadlocker on the button bolts. i will take photos when i pull it off within a few hours. i will never buy another msd product. read this, atleast msd is trying to work on the issues.

You should ditch the one from oreilly's and either get a new GM or MSD opti to replace it. If you want to do the delteq/ltcc then you can after that but you still need a good working opti to use either, which oreilly's are not.

now i am not saying the dragging is a issue , it just shows quality issues. my car was running lean , popping back firing and missing all the way up the rpm band from idle. we changed everything on the car that would effect it and checked the rest. the opti is the only other source. when i finish my install (of factory opti ) shortly i'll post the results. 7 meg sony camera and it can't take a better picture than that , up close bah
