Default First time at the track with the now M6

well guys last night was the first time i have been to the track since the new build.. i really need some better tires and some suspension(since i dont have any)work done on the car before i race it again..

NOW here is my question after the first run (spinning through the 8th) i decided to do a back to back run pulling right back into line without waiting.. did a better burnout.. hooked a little better THENit was slipping like a sob.. everytime i shifted it would still be up in the redline.. i was pretty sure my clutch was done

got to the end of the track and it was smoking like a chimney real bad.. my car smelled like a fried clutch for 3 hours.. BUT when i was leaving the track.. every gear shifted strong not a single slip at all.. so is my clutch fine? it was smoking BAD.. any advice would be awesome guys

I had that problem with mine as well. I launched hard, i was spinning, then shifted into 2nd... it was revving high, but i felt the tires grip... and all i could smell was clutch.

this happened about 2 times, ever since then, its never happened.

i shoulda payed more attention in clutch class

So after u went to the track, it feels fine now?

its hard to tell, but you could have scored your flywheel... kinda like you know after you slow down from doing high speeds really fast... your brakes smell horrible and your rotors may turn blue.

I wouldn't be too worried if its acting fine now. Generally stock clutches arn't made to be beaten on like that at the strip

it just worried me because there was ALOT of smoke.. its safe to say there was way more smoke than when in the burnout box

its not a "stock" clutch.. its a HAYS clutch thats supposed to be 40% stronger than the factory one..

If it uses the stock disk don't expect the clutch to last long either way. My SLP clutch lasting a whoping 3 months until I warped the disk. I got lucky since most people just tear them in half. And why did you stay in it with the clutch slipping that bad?

i stayed in it because im a dumb *** and i thought i was just spinning the tires again.. so i would engage the pedal then let off it and punch it again thinking it wouldnt do it

there is only 200 miles on the clutch

I would say 200 to 300 miles of mild usage on the clutch. The purpose of breaking it in is to make sure the disc, pressure plate and flywheel all make full contact. It's also a chance for the friction material on the clutch to experience normal heat, wear and tear, and shock.

Your suppose to wait 500mi for break in period. You dont drag it in the first 500mi lol. Its broke in now so any ways if it isnt slippin keep running it. You wont get any warranty work now!!
