Default Info needed on DANA 44

I bought this diff today, i need to know where to get a axle(one is slightly bent). I also need to know how hard it is so set the ring and pinion up, the guy i bought it from dug into it and did not know what he was doing. I bought it for 380$, what you guys think?

8.5" ring gear, 30 spline axles and there are more upgrades that you can do to help keep it together.

This is a verry rare rear from what i have found, it was available a while back but it was factory in the rare 92(i think) firehawk(i think) which was supposedly 375 hp. This is from what i hear, nothing more, but you can clearly see all the bracketry is stock for a 82+ setup.

Seems like a nice way to go, wonder if there's a way to get
the 4-channel ABS reluctors on there. Any idea how this
compares to a 12-bolt for weight? Seems like maybe a
driveline vendor could get a pallet of 'em out of Dana and
offer something cleaner than the current 12-bolt-conversions.
I know I'd rather go that way if the ABS/ASR can be fitted.

SLP and Summit did offer these in a 3rd gen width, I even think Summit had a sale on these a few years ago. Dana did produce them and they are listed in Dana Spicer GXT books. You could cut the ends off and have a LT1-LS1 style housuing end installed and that would allow you to run a 4 chanel ABS system.

The F-car Dana 44's did have a crush sleeve but a standard Dana 44 gear set will work with the preload shims. I do have a few good used ones here for $85.00.

Thats a helluva score you found. The brake brackets look like they accept metric front calipers. No e brake though...someone makes what you need...SSBC?

Good luck to ya, Tom

I got a set of iron brakes on a 9 bolt that should bolt up, i wanna go with PBRs or even LT1 brakes, but that will be later down the line. I wonder what kind of 60' i would cut with a 3.31 gear?
