You can push a stock one to about 500rwhp. Used P1 or D1 kit can be found sometimes in the $3000 range in decent conditions.

I'm piecing a D1SC kit together, and I should be right under $4000 for the below pieces.

-D1SC head unit
-J-bracket to mount head unit
-8-rib belt/pulley setup
-Turbosmart Raceport 52mm blow off valve
-31x12x4 3in/3out intercooler
-ATI crank pinning kit
-ATI balancer/dampener (used)

That's all new parts except the ATI balancer.

Already have the dual Walbro externals, 60lb injectors, aftermarket fuel rails, and all of the required fittings. Just need to pick up some 10AN and 8AN line for the feed, a Hobbs switch (maybe), some 6AN or 8AN for a return, and a pressure regulator. Aside from that, all I should need is to get the intercooler piping put together, and I'll be set to get tuned at 12-14psi (obviously will not be stock shortblock...if all works out this weekend, forged internals, ported heads, 9.3:1 CR, whatever cam I decide on)

Not to mention how incredibly streetable a 450rwhp boosted car will be!

Vortech's are nice kits. I saw somebody advertising one for sale in their signature for $2000 o.b.o. for a T-trim and FMIC... that's a pretty good deal!

yeah i figure my goal is 450whp which is plenty for the street in my eyes. I just figure with a blower like you mentioned the car will be very streetable and still make good power.
