GTO versus WS6
Well fellas im looking for some more experienced voices to chime in on this. Around May-June I'm probably going to try and sell the SS, and get something else. I'm considering either an EXTREAMLY low mileage 2001, or moderate mileage (under 35-40k) 2002 WS6, or a 2004 GTO. I'd really like a 05-06 GTO, but they are just a tad pricey for me right now. M6 is a must. What im wondering is, how bad were the 04 GTOs? I know the Trans Ams had their problems, but at least its a proven(while older) platform. Ive heard some horror tales of GTO rears and trannys. Not what Id expect from an 04 with under 30k miles on it. More than likely the GTO wouldnt have a warrenty so the last thing I want is those kinds of problems and no help! Whats the biggest pros and cons of each? Count me as clueless. Lets hear it

Car for car its the same power, but the WS6 will be lighter, so Im thinking that the ws6 will be faster, or a drivers race. Its been discussed a number of times and this is what I think the consensus was. Good luck.

It all depends what you want. Personally, I love the interior of the GTO. If you want something that is comfortable to cruise in, is fast and is stealthy, then go for the GTO. If you want something else just keep the SS and mod. it. Good luck.

Ws6 IS faster. NOT a driver's race. Unless you're talking about a really bad driver vs a really good one. I have an LS2 and it's still pretty hard to get that goat to keep up with my ws6(before turbos of course), but it is doable with that car. Is this going to be a toy/weekend car, or daily driver?
I'd say that the 04 goats don't really have any more problems than any other car, for a first year model. If you're going to drive it like a grandma (like me, mostly), then I'd say go for the goat. For what it's worth, the T/A is more "visceral" than the goat, and much more fun to drive IMO. Mine'll wear you out after a few hours, though. That's why I have the GTO.
They are both excellent cars. The question is, what are you looking for? The GTO's like a fine woman in a black dress at a fancy party. The WS6 is like the hot chick in the hiked up miniskirt at the nightclub. So what do you want? Refined, or nasty?

all though the gto does have a nicer interior, i prefer the ws6's exterior styling. it screams look at me and shiver with fear. lol.
i have always loved the bird, from the 69 my cousin has, to the good ol' smokey and the bandit T/A, to KITT all the way to the 4th gen, all good years

it's totally up to your personal decision. power for power you can't go wrong with either. most don't like the GTO because the exterior reminds them of a grand prix. however the interior of that car is a 10. the WS6 is older. but I think the WS6 is 10 times meaner looking. I about bought a 04 GTO m6. drove it twice. it was such a smooth ride. quick. & stylish. but it was when I first looked into the side mirrors that I fell in love with the Trans Am.

the tranny/rear in the 04 Goats are no problem unless your making 500+rwhp.
But to trade a lighter car(SS) for a heavier car(GTO) with the same motor is plain dumb.
H/C your car(if you havent already) slap some wheels on it and just be happy with your ride man.
Dont downgrade because the car is a later year model than yours.
It all depends what exactly you want. Different strokes for different folks bro.

Thats my opinion as well. I rarely see camaro SS's around where I live, and compared to the number of WS6s out there, i'd much rather have the SS. But i'm partial to the camaros. An SS looks 10 times better than a WS6 - even in stock form with the 10 spokes. And as far as the WS6 being lighter, that may be true but it's ALWAYS a driver's race between the two.
Keep your car.

Wow thanks for all the responses folks. I agree the WS6 look WORLDS meaner that any GTO, but theres only maybe 2 running around my town, but about 4 Zs and one SS 4th gen that I know of me
Im still town but if i did buy a gto im leaning heavily toward a 6.0 if they went down.....

I would keep the SS. It's a better looking car than the GTO or WS6 (and that's coming from a former WS6 owner), and more fun to drive than the GTO.
