00' ta keeps blowing headlights
i tried a search but couldnt find anything on this. i have owned my ta for almost a year and in that time i have had to replace the low beams at least twice on each side. they keep blowing out about once every 2 or 3 months, is this normal?

I had both low beams go at the exact same time. 4 or 5 months after I got the car. Went into the restaurant came out and no worky. Never had both go out at the same time on any vehicle I've had.

i've had this happen on my car, did it happen shortly after startup? i find that when my alternator is cold it runs a lot more voltage than i would like usually in the high 14 range sometimes low 15's, im not sure if the voltage regulator is the problem, i've also heard the problem is worsened if you're running an optima, are you running an optima?

Optima will not cause the problem. Leave the heresay as just that. I had a couple of them quit on my car. I changed to the wagner brite lights that have a zenon bulb and they are still going. I sold the car a couple of years ago but the new owner lets us do all of the service on it.

Headlights
I went thru several on my 99 turned out i had loose connecters at the bulb- one finally melted - bought replacement connecter - no more problems - other than DRL-Daytime running lights - those get smoked often - i think i need new park light housings - ive had lots of little electrical gremlins with this thing!

Its a poor design..if you look at the connector when it click into the housing it is directly in the openings on the vents for the brakes(in the bumper) Rain Snow Sleet and other debris can all get in there.. Its a design flaw that needs to be addressed. Id like to get some new DRLS and make them where the connector is on top...

I have had 3 Birds in the last 10 years. I always keep at least one spare headlight at home. It is also caused from the way the headlight doors slam shut. You have a light that's hot, turn it off and then slam!! the door closed.
To the original poster: Since my first '97 to the WS6 today I have changed about 15 or more head lights. The same with all 3 Birds that I have had, a couple lights a year.

wow that really sucks. these are $10 cars with a $100 dollar motor lol. really there are a lot of little things that are screwy on these cars, its nothing major just little annoying things. i came from a terminator to this car and i really like the looks of the f-body and the ls1 is great but in my mind the cobra was just a more well built car, or better designed anyway.
