MS3 Cam

nice sig lol..^^^ from what I gather you can run extremely close PTV clearance, and you may not need to flycut to clear for it to run, but your running the risk of damage if you ever over rev or miss a shift or whatever... it's a safety thing. Could cause some serious damage if it decides to touch one day.. kind of like bald tires or 3 lug nuts...

I would not reccommend running the MS3 cam with heads that have been milled down to a 59cc chamber. If you did not have P/V clearance issues in the first place, tapping the rev limiter once could be all it takes to have a clearance problem. If you would like some more compression in the motor, going with the 2.5 5.3l Heads would be an easy way to do it since they come stock with a 62cc combustion chamber.

I have a MS3 with PRC stage 1 LS6 heads (64cc chambers) and I wanted to run a cometic .040 headgasket to bring my compression up a tad and they said it wouldn't work so I have to run stock GM MLS headgaskets.

I,ll be running a ms-3 with ls-6 heads with .030 shaved and .040 cometic,s.I think i,ll be o.k because they will be on a LQ-4 6.0 with dish pistons. On my 5.3 HO the ptv clearance was to tight with flat top pistons. They didn,t hit ,but where under .080 ptv clearance.I think Min. ptv reccomended is .090. I think with 59cc heads you will have to flycut.

114 LSA. It's going on the dyno this saturday, so I'll know for sure then. Most cars with this setup put down ~425whp. It's very streetable and pulls really hard all through the powerband. Here's a couple vids...

Car made good power, too.
Stock thickness gaskets were used, but I admit I was tempting the purchase of a 408.
My next H/C combo will have plenty of PTV clearance... ETP 215's, and a custom cam.
I'll be able to overrev and bang off the rev limiter all ******' day.
Your car sounds GREAT, Andy!
Where are you dynoing it?
