Default HUGE Interior Question!

How the hell do you get the center console strip off?!

I have an A4. I haven't tried it yet but it doesn't look as simple as I'd like. Do I have to do something weird with the shifter.

Thanks guys,

You need to take a flat blade screwdriver and carefully pry out the plastic staple on the front side of the ****, then it just slides off. Pretty easy.

like he said pry out the staple then open the center console compartment and remove the coin holder. (should just slide up) the undo the 2 small screws under that and just lift up and out

Great, thanks...

What about the shifter? I need to get this piece totally out of the car... does the shifter come apart in a manageable fashion?

The **** should just slide off once the staple is out. Once it's off, just slide the consol piece up and over the ****. Make sure you unhook the wires that go to the cig lighter and ash trey light.

I needed to know this also. I hate how ugly the A4 shifter is so I was thinking of doing the shifter conversion thing (manual shift **** on Automatic) and putting in a 6 Speed center console with the boot and everything.. Thoughts?

Post up some pics when you get done with the Grand Am shift boot. I have been thinking about using one from a Grand Prix.

Grand Am Boot may look nice but I went with redline goods for custom boots and console lid to go with my shift conversion. I liked the boot on the ebrake and console but I did not like it on the shifter . I have one available in charcoal leather with silver stitching if anyones interested for cheap. Not trying to hijack the thread though. Sorry.

Pull it up easy, there isnt much slack in the wire for the light under there. Be careful around the airbag stuff under there! I think I actually had to put the car in gear to be able to get it high enough to unhook the light before I lifted it. Hope that helps!
