Talking Cutouts HP gain or not?

Do cutouts slow you down or is it good?

They can provide a few tenths/HP, especially with a stock cat-back. Using one on an aftermarket catback will also help.

Hope you like loud and droney, because that's what you're going to get.

My friends full bolt on M6 LT1 put down another 6rwh and 5rwt with open cut out. ACHOTROD on here with his LE2 set up put down another 12-15rwh with his. He's got TD's now. So yes, a cut out should throw on a few extra ponies.

1-3 hp. Invest in a nice exhaust set up first.

On my first headss/cam package a few years back my exhaust consisted of Jet Hot LTs, catless Y pipe, and a Maganaflow catback. My cutout was placed before where the bend in the exhaust to go up over the rear axle is. I gained 7rwhp on the dyno with it uncapped, I don't remember the torque.

^^ What I've always been curious about is, if there's a hp loss with running a cut out when it's closed. Would be kinda cool to see a dyno graph of someone's car dynoed before the cut out installed and after with the cut out out closed up.

Think it depends on what kind of exhaust/catback you are running, but it'll sure sound faster

My brother had a 93 TA cammed/bolt-ons and it picked up 16rwhp over the catback he was running. I'll have to find out which CB he had on there, though. We were all shocked. It all depends on how well the catback flows. Over stock, you'll pickup enough to make it worth it if you like the sound. If you're running a Magnaflow or similar, you'll probably pick up a bit but not as much. It also depends on what's done to the motor and whether you're running LTs. If the motor doesn't need to push out that extra air, you're not going to see much of a gain.

I couldn't see any benefit to outway the cost on a set of true duals.
