Default LT1 shortblock weight? Shipping question...

Hey does any body know the approximate weight of a lt1 short block? I'm trying to quote someone a shipping price and I need to know.

no way an LT1 shortblock weighs 350lbs, even assembled. I carry around bare lt1 blocks like nothing, and only bench 315

Short block meaning block crank rods pistons. So sounds to be about 300? Damn that's a little heavier than I expected. Thanks guys.

Yeah, 350ish with crank, rods and pistons. You have to realize a crank is 40-50lbs alone. It all adds up if you have a cam, oil pan, covers, balancer, timing chain etc.

I shipped one at 350ish pounds. It might be closer to 300, but if you underestimate and the shipping company wants to be a dick, you will pay the price.

Use a company called www.freightquote.com to get quotes for shipping. I have used the companies Estes and UPS Freight. Estes is cheaper and was way better to deal with than UPS. Freightquote has great prices.
