Default Ported stock throttle body

I'm fairly new to efi hot rods but I was told that if I change out my stock tb on my lq9 for a ported and polished stock one it would make a big difference I've always just bought bigger but this is a budget build ( single dad) so I'm looking to save some cash I'm adding a 150 shot to my car also any opinions

Thanks guys

I'm in the process of doing a 370 LQ9, and will be throwing on my ported TB as well, but I still don't think it will net much more power than a LS1 setup...may another 2-3 hp

It will give you better throttle response maybe a few extra horse but very little. You will beable to tell the difference in throttle response ported and not ported. Really easy to port yourself. What kind of intake mani you got?

I am thinking about this too. Would it affect a Frost tune?

I noticed more throttle response with the ported t/b, power was maybe 3-4 hp.

I have this style of ram air on my car (Fast Toys Ram Air - bought and installed about 8 years ago). In all my time with this setup on the car, I've never once had an issue with heavy rain, snow, etc. getting all the way up the sheet metal, through the filter, and into the MAF or intake. Never.

This is only an issue if you plan on crossing a flooded road with such deep standing water that even full-size trucks should not be driving. It's not like your intake system is a vacuum.

Ram Air only really helps when you're at highway speeds, and the amount of help it gives is minimal. I honestly noticed zero change in anything with my car after the install, other than having to change my air filter much more frequently.

I think the ram air setup will be more helpful when I install my LS6 intake, headers/catback, and get tuned. At that point the extra air hitting the intake will actually matter, as opposed to now where I have too many other air flow bottlenecks.
