You think that's bad, you should see the the merge inside my Flowtech y pipe. It's just a little round hole less than 2" diameter.

My jet hot y pipe was nothing to brag about but at least it didnt have a half inch lip around the inside of the merge

You just reuse your stock bolts and gaskets. The stock gaskets are metal and can be used over and over. The Y does come with U bolt clamps but I would recommend getting band clamps.

how would you go about trying to fix the merge of a y? just get a drill with a grinding attachment and try to grind down as much of the lip as possible without cracking something?

Got the headers and y. The fit was great and they looked awsome. Very fast shipping. If your debating if their worth it, YES they are.

Did have two minor prob. The first was the y was a pain in the *** to get in with the catback still hanging there. The second was that I did not get all the peanuts out of the pipes from shipping. So when I cranked it up and reved it up for the first time peanuts shot out the tail pipes

Yea you should use a air hose to blow thru all the pipes to make sure all the peanuts are out

I made my own, but I don't have any pics. It is 3 inch mandrel bends from headers to Flowmaster 2x3 into 3.5 inch merge to 3.5 inch cutout to Flowmaster 3.5 to 3 inch reducer. It may not be perfect...but it damned sure flows more than most of the store bought Y pipes I have seen.

Reviews like this make this a tuff choice. I just broke a AIR bolt off in my manifold too.
