Default 1st kill with the new build

Today was the first day to take the car out after the rebuild, and it sure ran good. Heads, cam, intake, ported tb,converter, long tubes, and a great tune. Sure enough during one of the many passes on the main road we attracted some attention form a Z28 SS. The Z didn't stand a chance. Instant 4000 rpm tires screaming, just ripping the tread off. It felt good to be able to just let off because they didn't even stand a chance. It was well worth all the work put into the car.

sounds like you have a nice build working for ya. what exactly is a Z28 SS? I didn't know such a thing existed. I thought it was either a Z28 or an SS.

Nice!!!!!!!! I can't wait for to order my heads! Got everything I need except the actual L92/LS3 heads to do a LS3 heads/intake swap. Should give me a solid 120+rwhp gain! What numbers did yours put down when they tuned it?

every SS is a z28, its just a z28 with a ss appearance package from the factory and are a numbered build

The car made 388/346 through stock mufflers, and without locking coverter.

I see. I understand that they are both LS1's. I just thought there was more of a distinct difference, ie suspension, slightly more power, etc.

You are correct sir, the ss package can come with upgraded suspension, and the slightly more power can be due to a blackwing lid from slp along with a few other slp and factory goodies.

Good kill, man! It's always fun to test out the new mods by lining up against another car

There is no power difference at all. A Z28 can dyno higher than a SS just depends on the car. The suspension is a little different but not enough to talk about. Appearance is the main difference. My Ws6 dyno 328 rwhp stock and 30 minutes later the same year non WS6 T/A dynoed 326 rwhp. Its just depends on the car.

Holy Sh*t, here we go. I'll check in tomorrow when this thread is 12 pages long with everyone arguing over the differences of WS6's, SS's, Z28's, and trans ams.

Good Kill OP, sounds like a strong set up.

uh oh! I didn't mean to start a big long discussion about the differences. I have never owned an Fbody and just was trying to get to know the cars a little better. Are you saying that SS's and WS6's have more than just appearence differences?

Comp Cams 227/231 dur. .613"/.617" 112lsa
L92 roller rockers w/ stud girdles
full gasket kit
ARP head stud kit
Phoenix Performance 3400 stall triple disk w/antiballooning plate
bigass Derale Atomic trans cooler w/fan
Pedders zero drop rear springs w/drag bags
stock LS3 intake

What I need still:
ported L92 or LS3 heads w/springs.
a weekend on my brothers lift (easier said than done: I've only had 2 weekends off this year so far)

Not really. Suspension is a little different, exhaust is a little different. LS1 is the same, they all make the same power.
