Default Polished My DeCarbons

Just got the sandblaster up and running in my shop. I wanted to test it out on some parts I didn't care about and I saw the ugly orange DeCarbons sitting there. I don't have shocks budgeted for my project yet, so I figured I would make the DeCarbons match the rest of my suspension for the time being. I normally wouldn't show off DeCarbons, but I can't believe how they turned out with about 30 minutes worth of work. What do you think?

I used several coats of clearcoat so they won't rust.

I hope you didn't let the sand get into the shock

Don't take this personally, because the work is great.

But, given the quality of the decarbon's, the phrase "polishing a turd" comes to mind.

Nope, I'm smarter than that. They were completely masked off.

LOL, I don't take it personally. I know DeCarbons suck, but since I don't have money in my budget for QA1s or Konis, I have to make the best with what I've got. I just couldn't put the half rusted, bright orange DeCarbons on my car with an all new red UMI suspension. Besides, this didn't cost me a dime because I already had all of the supplies and tools, and it only took about 30 minutes.

Actually, it was proven on Mythbusters that you CAN polish a turd.

If you end up polishing a better set of shocks in the future, at least you had some practice on some beaters

That Mythbusters episode is exactly what came to mind when I read his post. Atleast when polishing these "turds" there were no real feces involved!

There will be no need to polish the shocks that I have planned for my car.
