This 900-horsepower Turbocharged Chevy Tahoe Launches With Enough Force To Tear The Earth In Half

By -

When you can get a Tahoe into the 9s, you’ve got one heck of an engine.

There exist people in this world who think a turbocharged Tahoe drag truck is a great idea. We’ll never understand them, but we do applaud their efforts. This is a heavy beast of a truck, and we are stunned at how quickly the thing hustles down the track in this BigKleib34 video. That kind of mass just shouldn’t be able to move like that. It breaks at least three laws of physics, right? It has to. When you’ve got likely more than a thousand horsepower at the crank, however, many things are possible. Crazy and glorious things. Really quick things.

We’re cautious to tell this guy that he might be a little quicker if he’d started with something a bit lighter, and more traditional, like a Corvette or Camaro. Then again, when you’re running 9-second quarter mile runs and you have enough room to bring the wife, two kids and a pile of luggage, you’re really winning at life anyway, and you don’t need to take our silly drag racing advice. We also like when people build non-traditional cars to drag race, because the world has enough Corvette and Camaro drag racers. On second thought, we think we’ll encourage this Tahoe trucker.

With a built 5.3-liter V8 , including flow ported heads and a Tick turbo camshaft, set up to handle a massive 20 psi from a huge BorgWarner turbocharger, this engine is really rocking. It should also be mentioned that this turbo kit is one-hundred percent home-brewed. Toss in the fact that this whole kit runs on 93 octane pump gas with a custom methanol injection setup, and we’re seriously impressed. Just look at the way this thing scrambles up out of the hole and try not to be impressed.
