2019 Camaro 2SS Convertible

This 2019 Camaro 2SS Convertible was totaled in an accident and now wears the body of a car 50 years older.

Sadly, production of the Chevrolet Camaro has ended. And at this moment we don’t know when or if we will ever see a new Camaro again. So, perhaps that is what is driving bidders crazy over this totaled 2019 Camaro 2SS Convertible that is up for auction on eBay? Or maybe it is the fact that it looks super cool wearing the body of a classic 1969 Camaro? No matter what the reason is, the bids are coming in fast and furious for this unique car. As of this writing the auction has been live for less than a full day and 44 bids have been placed already. The high bid right now stands at $28,099. You can get a clean title 2019 Camaro 2SS Convertible for about that much. But a 1969 Camaro Convertible would cost you quite a bit more.

According to the auction description the 2019 Camaro 2SS Convertible was in an accident and was totaled. It is then that someone took a unique approach to getting it back on the road and all steel 1969 panels were grafted onto the 2019 Camaro. The car had a salvage inspection and is currently riding on a reconstructed title. However, it is street legal, and the odometer shows a little over 23,000 miles on it. The seller states that everything works on the car including the heated seats, the paddle shifters, and the remote start. Most importantly the 6.2L V8 LT1 under the hood still has 455 ponies putting in the work.

Convincing Looks

1969 Camaro body

We must say that at first glance this is a pretty convincing looking car. Those of you reading this article can probably easily spot the exterior details to tip you off that this is not a real 1969 Camaro. However, we bet that this car will fool most of the general public. The front fender stripe does have a ‘376’ incorporated to indicate the 376 cubic inch V8 under the hood. But if you are not looking closely, you could easily mistake it for a ‘396’ that would have been on a real 1969 Camaro SS. There is also a ‘6.2L’ emblem on the cowl of the hood. There are other details such as the proportions being a bit off, and the GPS antenna on the trunk. But overall, it looks pretty good.

Convincing Performance

6.2L V8

If this car drives anything like a standard 2019 Camaro 2SS Convertible then there is plenty of performance under the hood. This car is equipped with the 10-speed automatic transmission which should be able to help get the car to 60 mph in about 4.4 seconds. That is significantly faster than a stock 1969 Camaro with the 396 V8 could do. And the performance inside the car is everything you would expect from a modern automobile. Meaning you get a modern infotainment system that can do things that no one dreamed of in 1969.

Good Buy?

Interior

Is this car a good buy? It might be, depending on your desires. And based on the fact that so many bids have been coming in, there are plenty of people out there that feel this car matches their desires perfectly. It will obviously not win any awards at a Concours d’Elegance or be an extremely valuable collectible. But for a fun car to cruise around in, for a reasonable amount of money, this might be the perfect ride. Place your bid today. The auction ends on February 4.
