Boosted Camaro with Nintendo Steering Wheel Is a Darwin Contender

Nintendo Switch Steering Wheel on Turbo Camaro

If you’ve been looking for something incredibly sketch to do with your turbo Camaro, we’ve got great news for you!

It’s no secret that we’re fans of a turbo LS around these parts. Of course, we love a well-built car that shreds and are happy to give props where they’re due. It’s just always unfortunate to see cool cars in the hands of people who are, let’s say, not fit to be driving an RC car, let alone a turbo LS Camaro. Unfortunately, we’ve stumbled upon one of those exact scenarios!

Steven Schneider is the owner of this turbocharged fourth-gen Camaro.  To his credit, it looks like the thing absolutely rips. From what we can gather on his Instagram feed, it’s a relatively standard turbo LS1 build with an On3 turbocharger and Holley EFI. However, he recently posted a video that’s caused a bit of extremely justifiable controversy.

It’s pretty funny; we can’t even lie about that. Sure, there’s plenty to argue about in terms of whether or not this is safe. Clearly, the answer is that it isn’t. However, there’s certainly no shortage of people doing unsafe things with their cars. That’s not really the issue here, though. While many folks are ready to condemn Schneider for pulling this stunt at all, we see things just a little bit differently.

Please don’t get it backwards; we think the acts performed in this video are unjustifiably stupid. However, it may not be for the same reasons others do. Obviously, people are going to do reckless things in cars. It’s just a fact of life, and we all know the temptation of putting your foot down in a boosted LS car. That being said, there’s a time and place for everything. If Schneider had taken his Nintendo Switch wheel for a cruise around the block or done some pulls in an open location, the outlook might be a bit different.

The biggest problem with this video is the jackassery in doing pulls on a relatively narrow and busy road.  Schneider rapidly accelerates past a row of cars stopped at a traffic light and towards the rear end of a car in front of him. You can clearly see that this car struggles for traction. No amount of “trust me, I know my car” flavored excuses could save the car’s path if it steps out a bit too much or that wheel comes off.

Keep a Little Sensibility in Your Recklessness

Obviously, we’re not advocating for doing stupid things. However, no amount of telling people to “take it to the track” is going to convince them to actually do so. So, we’ve got to work within our means here. The amount of car enthusiasts who can genuinely say they’ve never done questionable things in cars on streets or in parking lots is likely as close to absolute zero as science will ever get. However, there are still ways to do it without endangering the general public.

So, if you’re reading this, Mr. Schneider, nice car. If you want to do “look at me, I’m quirky” things with your steering wheel, by all means, have at it. Just take it somewhere a little less stupid, yeah?
