Behold, the screaming flat-plane LT6 engine in this 2023 C8 Corvette Z06 spotted casually cruising on public roadways.

There’s certainly no shortage of excitement surrounding the 2023 Chevrolet C8 Corvette Z06. It’s been the talk of the town when it comes to Chevrolet and Corvette enthusiasts for quite some time now. However, things are getting antsier and antsier as we approach them actually becoming available.

From the camo spy shot videos where we first heard the engine screaming to the full Chevrolet reveal a handful of months ago, Corvette buyers have been waiting on the edge of their seats to put down a deposit.

In that case, here’s some more anticipation for you! This Youtube user who goes by the name of Bigdave593 recently posted a video of a C8 Corvette Z06 driving down the road in the wild. After a little influence from Bigdave, the driver of the Corvette gives him a solid flyby. This really gives us a chance to hear that LT6 flat-plane V8 roar in a public setting! Volume warning, though, the wind noise is a bit overbearing right off the bat.

Listen to the Flat-Plane Ferrari-Like Scream

Fortunately, our hero of a cameraman brings the phone back in just in time to convince the Z06 driver to put his foot on the floor. Even though it’s just for a second, the Z06 lets out an incredibly satisfying scream. If this doesn’t get you excited to see these things on the road, nothing will!

For a bit of a recap, the C8 Corvette Z06 uses a flat-plane crankshaft V8, hence the sound. Additionally, the term “Ferrari-like” runs a bit deeper than one might think. Corvette Z06 developers admitted to purchasing a used Ferrari engine for reverse engineering purposes. As one would expect, though, the team of Corvette engineers turned it up a bit. Though the architecture is similar, the LT6 in the Z06 Corvette is quite a bit hotter than Ferrari’s NA V8 offerings. In fact, it’s the most powerful NA V8 engine ever fitted to a production car.

With an eye-watering 670 horsepower output rolled into the mid-engine and remarkable handling C8 platform, there’s no doubt that we are in for one of the gnarliest Corvettes ever built. Frankly, we can’t wait to hear one of these beasts in person.

We Aren’t Far off From This Being a Regular Sight

According to Car and Driver, Chevrolet expects to put the Z06 into production come summer 2022. So, those who are waiting anxiously to buy one, you may not be waiting all that much longer. Here’s hoping!

For the time being, though, we’re just going to keep this and all the other Z06 videos playing on repeat. Quite frankly, we’ll never get our fill on hearing this remarkable engine.
