Custom Gen 2 CTS-V Throws Down 760+ On The Dyno With LSA Power

By -

You can power this LSA by fossil fuel or by corn.

While the LT4 is currently the heart of the CTS-V, it’s not as though the LSA is completely forgotten. And why should it be? Potency is known, so it’s no wonder we keep seeing new builds, such as this Opulent Blue Gen 2.

The basis of this build is a 416 cubic inch LSA shortblock with a custom spec camshaft from the speed specialists at Vengeance Racing, which is a current LS1tech sponsor. Longblock parts include Trickflow cylinder heads, and a ported LSA supercharger. A favorite of Vengeance Racing, American Racing, supplied the long tube headers. On intake sire: NewEra makes the 4.5 inch intake, and Nick Williams makes the 102mm throttle body.

Vengeance’s heat exchanger system, along with AldoWelds ice tank in the trunk cool things down, but power which generates that heat can come from two different sources. Either by pump gas, or by E85. Corn power gives you the highest numbers, with 762 horsepower to the wheels. Pump gas will still have you above 700, with a total of 718. Power to the rear wheels retains the use of just one pedal, but the 6L90E gearbox has been improved by Circle D.

Don’t call this one a sleeper, however. Bright Opulent Blue paint might be “loud” in its own way, but if that wasn’t enough, dual electric cutouts will make sure you hear this car well before you see it. If the awesome sound of those cutouts isn’t evident in the video, then we can’t really help you there. Just to ensure your street fun is kept safe, the rotors and pads are changed to R1 Concepts slotted and drilled rotors matched to Hawk HPS pads. Plenty of go, plenty of whoa. Just as we like it.
