This week’s Drag Race video features a 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 running a 10.90 quarter mile in factory stock form.
According to the description, this is the first stock C7 Z06 with the manual transmission to run in the 10s and while I don’t know if that is true, the title doesn’t make this video any more or less impressive.
This 2015 Corvette Z06 is fitted with the 7-speed manual transmission and the Z07 package, which includes a set of Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, which clearly play a big role in helping this stock Vette run in the 10s.
We don’t get to see a time slip so we don’t know how good of a 60 foot time this Z06 turned in, but it is very clear that the driver gets this 650 horsepower beast off of the line in a hurry.
Really, with 10.90s stock, there are going to be very few stock cars sold in America that will be able to outrun a well driven C7 Z06 in the quarter mile.
"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s.
