Five Stock LS Rides Commanding the Quarter-mile: Track Time Tuesday Presented by Yokohama Tire’s ADVAN APEX
These LS-powered cars came out of the factory ready to roll, and we love watching them take down some serious competitors on the track.
One thing we can all agree on is that the LS is just a great, solid engine for almost all cars. But some could argue they are even more so for those that like to get down and gritty at the track. LS swaps are wildly popular, and justifiably so. However, we can’t forget those stock engines that came off the production lines ready to pounce.
With the right foundation, size and weight, and performance; a stock LS can perform amazing feats of power and velocity on the track. Especially with a little modest boost. For Track Time Tuesday we present five times stock LS-powered vehicles razed the road.
Muscle Memory
In this battle of pure muscle we see 1968 Camaro Z28 take on a 1968 Firebird Ram Air. This was part of the Pure Stock Muscle Car Drag Race series. The Camaro has a 302, producing 290 horses. And the very rare 1-0f-92 Firebird Ram Air houses a 400 making 335 horsepower.
Both are glorious machines, but the Camaro Z28 takes it in a close pass on the quarter-mile.
