I have my old roommates 1999 camero SS 5.7 with LS1 in it. It was manual and she stupidly swapped it to automatic , I changed the oil and and filter and she had over 7 quarts of oil in it and changed the transmission fluid and filter but when I ordered the filter for the car it wasn’t the right trans filter. It’s a complete different one than what pulls up in auto zones system. But i start the car and keep it in park and then I push on the gas and it starts to make this loud popping/ banging noise. I’m trying to upload a video but won’t let me so email me or text me at christinepsmith94@yahoo.com or 6822447927 and I’ll send the video and you see smoke coming where the ac should be hooked up but it’s not hooked up… please I need to know what to do. Thank you.

Is that loud banging coming from under the valve cover? I hate to say it but it’s time to tow it to a shop and load up the credit card. Might as well make it go as fast as you can afford while they’re in there. If you can.

not sure how to use this website(as in don’t know where the comment button is so hope this is right lol) but yeah the loud popping/banging noise & the smoke that comes up where the ac is suppose to go. And also when I start it up it turns on but if I try to restart it again after it’s like it dosnt want to restart….but then I’ll try the next day and it’ll start but after that first time it won’t or tries to but won’t and it smells too. Don’t know if it’s from the exhaust or the engine cause I’m in the car obviously lol

Would the crank sensor get hot enough to mess up if he’s not even letting it idle long enough to take a look around? The no start and the banging could be a coincidence, but the timing sure is coincidental.
