Ordering a Z06 with big brakes can save big bucks this month

Chevrolet’s flagship C7-generation Corvette remains one of the best deals in the bustling performance-car market, but Chevy is offering the chance to get an even better deal on a new Vette this April. When buyers opt to upgrade their brake package, the savings could top $8,000 in incentives and bonuses.

The option in question is the upgraded binders to carbon-ceramic brakes, noted as the J57 option code for the Corvette Z06. General Motors will offer a $5,000 bonus with any J57-optioned Corvettes. That option puts heavy-duty Brembo brakes on all four corners with 15.5-inch rotors in the front and 15.3-inch rotors in the rear. That setup also includes six-piston Brembo calipers to whoa the Z06 and matching brake pads.

We’ll let Alex Bernstein from CarsDirect.com explain the math on this and the other current GM incentives.

“On a 2017 Corvette Z06 coupe with 6.2-liter supercharged V8 rated at 650 hp, the option normally adds $7,495 for a configured MSRP of $87,940 with the 7-speed manual or $90,965 with the 8-speed automatic (prices include a $995 destination charge).

“Current Corvette owners and lessees are also eligible for a $2,000 loyalty bonus, an offer we’ve seen for quite a while. You don’t need to trade-in your current car, and the discount can be transferred among members of the same household.

“But that’s not all.

“As in previous months, Chevy is offering a $1,000 Bonus Tag on select inventory in stock the longest. Altogether, GM is offering up to $8,000 in combined savings when factoring all available incentives.

“Assuming an aggressive dealer discount in competitive areas, it’s entirely possible to see Z06 prices in the high $70,000 to low $80,000 range. For comparison, the least-expensive Porsche 911 starts at $90,450 and has variants approaching $200,000.”

These incentives and offers end May 1. You can build and price your own Corvette right here. Here’s a short video from Chevy showing the Brembo big-brake setup.
