Hennessy Tuned Chevy SS Runs 11.84 sec 1/4 Mile

It took a little while to collect my jaw from a puddle on the floor after watching this clip of the Hennessy SS doing 163 mph on a Texas toll road (electronically limited to not go past the 5th gear on the 6 speed auto tranny), so I’m glad they did a no holds barred, drag strip followup.

The Chevy SS in today’s video wears Hennessy’s HPE600 supercharger and destroys the quarter mile in 11.84 seconds @ 117 mph and wears wears drag radials to make sure the crowd isn’t completely engulfed in a giant cloud of tire smoke.

What I’d noticed was how (dare I say) calm the environment looks in the cockpit of the Hennessy boosted SS.

Here, the proposed 600hp sedan does a full speed run on drag radials and the only indicators of how insane it must be for the driver are a quick launch hiccup and the menacingly guttural drone of the supercharged LS.

Chevy SS with Hennessy kit just went to the top of my wish list.
