If you’re looking to spruce up your daily driver’s interior or need a finishing touch on your project, take advantage of Katzkin’s mobile service–you don’t even have to leave your couch.

Everyone has their bias when it comes to cars and their amenities. But no one can argue that good seats can make or break the driving experience–no matter how fancy a digital dash, auto-dim mirrors, or other creature-features you can get in automobiles are these days.

And if you’re looking to stand out from the crowd (but don’t necessarily want to wait for service in the crowd), Katzkin’s got you covered.

Katzkin is a well-known name in the world of automotive interiors. Since its founding, the company has been dedicated to creating high-quality custom leather interiors for cars, trucks, and SUVs.

What sets it apart is its mobile installation service, which allows customers to have their new leather seats installed at their home or place of business.

Katzkin Origins

Headquartered in Montebello, California, Katzkin (which is an amalgam of the family name Katz and the word “kin”) was founded by Mitch and his sister Leslie Katz in Los Angeles in 1983.

Through the years, the company has expanded its leather interiors for a wide range of vehicles; from sports cars to commuter trucks.

Selecting a Custom Design

Reupholstering your vehicle isn’t a laissez-faire job, so it shouldn’t be quick-pick affair when your choosing a style. The first step in getting custom leather from Katzkin is to select a design. The company offers a wide range of options, including various colors, patterns, and materials.

Customers can use this portal choose from standard templates or work with Katzkin’s design team to create a completely custom look. Once selected, the company’s expert craftsmen will create your leather seats using only the highest-quality materials.

For comparison, here is a photo of the interior prior to installation. The seats were originally “Ashen Gray” (as that is its factory color). However, I will be replacing the latches, center console lid, carpeting, and any other gray accents with black-colored upholstery later.

‘Suedezkin’

For this project, we decided to go with a custom Raven Suedezkin body with Carbon Shadow Vinyl wings, red stitching and the popular “Degreez” system for heated/cooled seats.

Katzkin ‘Degreez’ Heating & Cooling System

One standout feature of Katzkin’s custom leather interiors is the “Degreez” heating and cooling system.

First unveiled on a Hyundai Santa Fe at SEMA 2013, it’s the ultimate aftermarket solution for active temperature control for your seats. With three levels of cooling and heating for each seat cushion and back, Degreez is designed to fit most vehicles and maximizes air flow for optimal comfort using reticulated foam and perforation.

This system uses advanced heating and cooling technology to keep drivers and passengers comfortable in all weather conditions. One click down or up activates the system, and if you’re worried about a proprietary system draining your battery, fear not. The Degreez system, while not interoperable with the Chevrolet MyLink software, is wired right along with your accessory power, so once the car shuts off, it does as well.
