Land Rover Defender 110 is Powered by an LS3 V8

Florida-based E.C.D. Automotive Design, added an LS3 motor to a Defender 110 to achieve the perfect harmony of classic British design and American muscle.

The original Land Rover Defender is one of the most coveted classics in the market. Unfortunately, tracking down a good condition model is no small feat. However, companies like E.C.D Automotive Design are making it easy for the customer to own the car of their dreams as long as they don’t mind the steep pricing. The Florida-based E.C.D. Automotive Design company offers customizations that meet all customer specifications and demands.

This particular model in the discussion today is E.C.D Automotive Design‘s latest offering, which is called “Project Ransom.” The company based its creation on a Defender 110 and tailored it to meet the customer’s requirements. The final result is a convertible off-roader that flaunts a glossy green body. This shade is an update on the original British Green body. The company did a great job retaining the old-school look of the Defender. The bodywork also gets black accents that offer a nice contrast.

The pièce de résistance of this ensemble, however, lurks under the hood of this beast. The interesting addition to this 110 is the LS3 motor which has been sourced from a Corvette. The drastic change in performance courtesy of the LS3 engine will completely revamp this Land Rover’s driving experience. The maximum power output of the LS3 V8 is rated at 436 HP and 428 lb-ft of peak torque. The motor is hooked up to a six-speed automatic transmission.

According to E.C.D Automotive Design, the engines work well with the modifications. The interiors have also received modern upgrades. Puma heated and ventilated front seats have been added to the cockpit, along with an Apple CarPlay equipped touchscreen infotainment system. The cabin also gets creature comforts like rear AC vents and USB ports.

The seats are wrapped in Porsche Nappa Brown leather upholstery. To ensure safety, a four-point convertible roll cage has also been added. Project Ransom features fold-down side steps, which is a neat little detail. The outfit has restored and modified several Land Rover models over the years. The company did not shy away from restoring and modifying examples from the older Land Rover series, even adding an electric powertrain to one of those.
